Far East Cruises

May 20th, 2008

For a holiday with a difference you can’t go wrong with cruises to the Far East, including the wonders of China, Cambodia and Thailand. Cruises tend to start from a few of the larger cosmopolitan cities such as the cultural hotspot Bangkok in Thailand and you will have no shortage of things to do in Thailand’s bustling capital. Hong Kong, now part of China, this former British colony has a life of its own and is truly a 24 hour a day living city. If culture and history is your thing, then a pre or post cruise land stay will often lead to visiting such wondrous and historic places such as the Great Wall of China or the Forbidden City. Cruising in the Far East is relatively new to the world of cruising and yet is so popular more ships than ever before are being sent to the region as cruisers lap up the pleasures of this mysterious land.

Tips For Finding Discount Cruises

February 14th, 2008

Spending vacation time aboard a cruise ship is very popular and growing more popular all the time, even amongst those who have never set foot on a cruise ship in their life. The benefits are widely known and this puts cruises on many wish lists. Often, people are just waiting to find discount cruise travel opportunities so they can afford a cruise line vacation. Cruise deals are actually not that difficult to find if you know where to look.

You will find some great discount cruises at terrific ticket prices if you look hard enough. Here’s a couple of hot tips to help you on your way towards a great getaway vacation.

The price of a cruise is ruled by supply and demand. Empty cabins cost a lot of money so if there are more cabins out on the waves than there are customers, discount cruise travel deals will start appearing in the newspapers, on the web, in the travel agents etc. If they are short of cabins because too many people want a cruise this year, then prices will rise.

When a cruise line brings a new ship or two into service, they suddenly have increased their capacity considerably. These days, the new vessels are usually in the “megaliner” category. This means they will drop their prices to fill up the cabins. In order to compete with the cruise deals that are offered to fill their new ship with paying customers, the other lines will often lower their rates at the same time. As well, former passengers often get the first notice of discount cruise travel opportunities.

You will need to be flexible regards the ship and cabin you are prepared to cruise on. Try to book at least 3 months in advance of the departure date. For the best discount cruise travel deals, it is best to book around 4 to 6 months in advance because the rates are usually cheaper while the ship has plenty of empty cabins. Having said that, occasionally you can find red hot deals at the last minute due to someone having to cancel.

Don’t forget when you are looking at the prices that most are all inclusive and the price covers all your meals and many of the onboard activities such as live shows, dance classes and gym use. The benefits of the all inclusive cruises are there for all to see and should be remembered when looking at the prices.

If you discovered great cruise deals and ultimately got a break on your ticket price, then bravo to you and happy sailing. However, you will have some additional expenses of which you should be aware. It is customary, and expected, for you to tip the service staff. Plan on about $10 per day to cover this expense. Bottled water, soda pop, and alcoholic beverages are not included in your ticket fare, so you need to budget for your needs in this area as well. Also the shore excursions, special spa services and extra classes, such as yoga, need to be paid for separately.

September 3rd, 2007

Deciding which cruises to take is the hardest decision to make. Hawaii, Bahamas, Caribbean or even Alaska. You can see Europe on a cruise or many other countries, where every few days there is a new destination to explore.

When you plan your cruises you will see all the different ports you can visit for the day and that can be a big deciding factor for some people.

Have you ever wanted to visit Hawaii? Of course you have, I mean who hasn’t?

A cruise to Hawaii give you the chance to visit all the islands, you don’t pay for a hotel and it turns a normally expensive vacation into a vacation that can fit all budgets.

1) Pack For Your Cruise Wisely

July 31st, 2007

Cruise planning is the vital component in the steps you take to have a suitable cruise vacation.

Getting this right means that you can lie back and enjoy, safe in the knowledge that everything is in place for a perfect time.

Cruises usually go where it’s hot! The cruise lines are pretty savvy people and know, unless you are a bit of a masochist, that you’d like warmth by the ocean as you cruise.

That said, there are often cruises in the Northern Hemisphere that travel to cooler locations, like Alaska or the Baltic states, where warmth is not such an issue (on the contrary!), though reflected sunlight might still be.

As far as other cruise planning goes, you will need to consider what you might need for a prolonged spell away from the basics. There are no supermarkets on an ocean liner (though there are shops for most things you might need, it’s usually the one thing you forgot that you can’t get hold of!).

Apart from the weather, clothing needs additional consideration, especially when it comes to dining. Depending on the cruise, you might need a stack of different exotic frocks to show off. If you are a man it can often be the one tux, so don’t feel left out. Your partner will just have spent a bit more, that’s all!
