Background Checks On Small Travel Agents

Recently an Australian family group planning to travel to the Olympics in Bejiing lost 100.000 dollars and was not able to go there as the Norwegian travel agency took off with the money and blamed it on their Chinese travel partner.

A Norwegian familiy lost 10.000 dollars after their chinese ticket seller took off. An American couple lost 15.000 dollars after paying upfront for their Bahamas vacation to celebrate their 25 years as a married couple. They were ruined. All their savings the last 3 years gone when the one-man-band selling the tickets went bankrupt and no money was left for the elderly couple.

The list goes on and on and on and on…

PEOPLE GET RIPPED OFF EVERY DAY - EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

There are basically two reasons for this, the way I see it:

1- They are not doing their due dilligence properly

2- They had bad luck

…and maybe at last: They did not do a real background check on the seller or owner provided it is possible.

It is not easy to do a real background check on foreign people but you should at least do due dilligence as good as you can. If you order from a website, make sure they have all the contact info available and VERIFY that the contact info actually is correct. Call the number and make sure you get to talk to someoen, send in a support ticket to see how long it takes to get an answer etc etc etc.
